Emotional Regulation and horses

How we can restore your balance

You probably hear a lot about emotional dysregulation, especially in relation to the various NDs and care plans, but also with children.

You might also have read an earlier article on here where I talk about how the horses change various physiological aspects of our body - decreasing BP and heart beat and changing our brain waves into the theta waves where we can access that quiet space - allowing our breathing to slow down in sync with them - and how I use these things for working with people working through an event that has caused trauma.

Similarly, along with the rhymical repetitive actions that we can put into place whilst being with the horses, we can enter a state where we can seek to co-regulate in a similar way that a mother and baby does through the early infant bonding process.

We can't put you back into that place of skin to skin contact with your birthing mother - but we can put you into a place where this is proven to be effective in allowing the same safety and nurturing environment which can allow you to better take control of your emotions, better grow from here on and better create loving and respectful bonded relationships of your own.

I was quoted recently in an article as saying that I still am amazed after all these years what horses can do - and this is one of those areas where I am never going to grow tired of seeing horses and humans interact and the humans come out attuned and enabled to live their lives to the fullest and healthiest.
