As you can imagine, the work that I do encompasses many different forms of therapeutic forms - taking ideas, theories and working proven methods and intertwining them with the way that the horses work for people.
I studied CBT initially back in the 1990s and have used adaptations of it's form in many ways, but I particularly enjoy the TEAM-CBT approach and have now finally completed the Level 1 - having done much of the training beforehand and debating if it's working for me.
Some of the reasons I enjoy it - the testing of emotions, feelings and incredible ways that you can hold me to the best I can be as much as I hold you builds up a fantastic aspect within that therapeutic relationship that goes a long way to the journey to relief. The methods too offer so many ways to bring new ideas and ways to be in times where we have to look at how reactions and emotions come - the magic button and 60 seconds are my favourite by miles!
But, as well as that, the incredible support that I have found in the community has been fantastic over the last few years as well. A hugely diverse group meeting off and on - including this weekend at a conference in Dublin - where people come together to learn and develop their skills and knowledge frequently to offer the best services to those who come.
So yes, it's been great over the years to incorporate this into my work - but also to offer it as a stand alone pure system on it's own.
